Background

Many homeowners are unaware of the value of their possessions and are often underinsured when it comes to home insurance. The goal of this project is to develop a mobile app that will allow homeowners to easily create and maintain an inventory of their possessions for home insurance purposes.

Research

We conducted user interviews with homeowners to understand their needs and concerns regarding home insurance. We also reviewed existing home insurance inventory mobile apps and the features they offer. We also conducted research to understand the feasibility of developing a mobile app that would be intuitive and easy to use. We also conducted competitor analysis to understand what similar apps were offering in terms of features, and to better understand the market.

The first phase of this project was to conduct research to understand the user needs and identify potential solutions. We conducted user interviews and surveys to understand the pain points that users experienced when trying to keep track of their possessions, and to determine what they would like to see in a Home Insurance Inventory App. We also conducted competitor analysis to understand what similar apps were offering in terms of features, and to better understand the market.

Design

We designed a mobile app that would allow users to easily create and maintain an inventory of their possessions for home insurance purposes. The app included features such as adding and editing items, categorizing items, and scanning barcodes for items that would be difficult to manually enter. The app also included a dashboard that allowed users to quickly view their inventory and check for any missing items.

The second phase of this project was to design the Home Insurance Inventory App. We used the insights gathered from the research to create a user-friendly interface, and focused on creating an intuitive flow that would allow users to easily add and manage their possessions. We also incorporated features that would help users understand their insurance needs, such as an insurance calculator and helpful tips for understanding insurance coverage.

Development

We developed the mobile app using React Native and integrated it with a cloudbased database. We also built a webbased dashboard for the app, which allowed users to easily view their inventory and manage their items.

Testing

We conducted usability testing with homeowners to ensure that the
